First of all, keep in mind that these photos were taken a year ago. This was the end of Aussie summer season in 2011. They were so ahead of us in the States!
Cut offs, cropped tees, high-waisted bottoms, navajo print, vintage florals, over-sized tops, collars, sheer shirts, vintage booties, and retro sneakers. Very bohemian, very retro, very laid back. I saw so much more than I actually photographed. I would love to see some Aussie street fashion in the winter when there are more layers.

Great photos! This is so neat that you got the chance to do this internationally. How did you approach them?
ReplyDeleteChaucee- Usually it was a quick "love how you're dressed, can I take your photo?" Sometimes we'd elaborate and tell them where we were from and that we had a travel blog and liked to take fashion photos and this made them pretty happy. :)
DeleteThey look like they belong in Southern California. Very laid back indeed.
ReplyDeleteInessa - I thought the same thing! Very California.
DeleteLove it, and love that you took the time to document Aussie street style! Such a cool post!

ReplyDeleteAussies at their best, Melbs is the best spot for people watching. So cool seeing it through your eyes :)
ReplyDeletei love your street style posts! you should try to include one for each city you visit =)
ReplyDeleteSandra - Some cities didn't really have much fashion, so we just did random street photography instead. We did do quite a few fashion posts though -- Paris, London, Vienna, Kiev, Hong Kong, and Australia. Will definitely do more if we hit any other big cities.
DeleteThey ARE ahead of us! This looks like 2012 fashion in the states to me :)

ReplyDeleteMarty and Julia - How cool! A travel blog is like a journal. Even if nobody reads it, it will be such a treasure for you guys years from now. Thanks for writing.

Clearly, I've been living under a rock because how the fuck did I miss out on this blog all these years?!! I just recently started a travel blog of my own and I can only hope it'd be half as good as this one someday. Cheers!
